Two ways to join a class

Students can be added to a course in whichever way suits your class:

1. Join by code, hand out a short class code (for example AB12CD). From My Classes → Join a class, the student enters the code and is added to your roster automatically.
2. Connect an instructor-issued account, if you created the account with a Student ID, the student connects it to their own login from their workspace. You stay in control of the roster either way.

What students see

• My Classes, every live class the student has joined or been enrolled in, in one place.
• Submit & review, upload submissions, read inline feedback, and view returned grades and rubric scores once released.
• Learning modules, move through published modules in a clean sequential player.
• Switch class, the class button beside the ProfDesk logo lists every class the student is enrolled in, with each teacher's name. Choosing one opens that class.
• Search a class, the button in the class banner finds an assessment, a learning module, a page, a post or a section by its title. See Searching a class.

Searching a class

Open the search with the magnifier at the start of the class banner, or press / anywhere on the class page. Type part of a title: every word must match, and capitals and accents are ignored. Results are grouped by area, five per area until you choose Show more. Use the arrow keys and Enter, or click a result. Press Esc to close it.

It finds only what the class page already shows you, by title: assessments and their parts, learning modules and the items inside the ones you can open, standalone pages, practice quizzes, announcements, discussions, and the class's own sections and buttons such as My Gradebook. It never searches inside page text, posts or grades. A module or assessment that is locked, or not open yet, says so beside its name.

A result opens on the class page where it can: an assessment opens its card, an item opens in the player, a module opens in Learning Modules, and an announcement or discussion opens expanded in its tab. Hold Ctrl or Cmd, or use the middle mouse button, to open a result in a new tab instead.

Academic Records after a teacher removes a class

If the class record is connected to a federated ProfDesk account when the instructor deletes the roster entry, course, or instructor account, ProfDesk detaches the student's own work into Academic Records. It becomes permanently read-only: the student can view existing submissions, marks, feedback, annotations, and the applied rubric snapshot, but cannot submit or change anything.

If the student deletes their federated account instead, detached academic records and personal-workspace content are deleted, while still-live connected class records return to the instructor's custody.
