Students can be added to a course in whichever way suits your class:
Join by code, hand out a short class code (for example AB12CD). From My Classes → Join a class, the student enters the code and is added to your roster automatically.
Connect an instructor-issued account, if you created the account with a Student ID, the student connects it to their own login from their workspace. You stay in control of the roster either way.
A one-account-per-teacher guard keeps rosters clean: a student can connect only one account per instructor, so duplicate enrollments don't pile up.

Academic Records after a teacher removes a class
If the class record is connected to a federated ProfDesk account when the instructor deletes the roster entry, course, or instructor account, ProfDesk detaches the student's own work into Academic Records. It becomes permanently read-only: the student can view existing submissions, marks, feedback, annotations, and the applied rubric snapshot, but cannot submit or change anything.
Only the student's academic record is retained. Assessment questions and context, solution keys, learning modules, lecture materials, and other instructor-owned files are deleted and are not copied into the federated workspace.
If the student deletes their federated account instead, detached academic records and personal-workspace content are deleted, while still-live connected class records return to the instructor's custody.
Academic Records is live and clearly separated from active classes. Retained records are read-only.
